The new campus of the Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz is a multifunctional educational and cultural complex that brings together all the university’s key functions within a single, modern ensemble. We designed it as a compact and flexible structure – a space for learning, creativity, and everyday academic life. The campus is being built close to the city center, on the site of a former brickyard that had been used for industrial purposes for many years. The project restores this area to the city – as a new educational and social space, integrated with its surroundings and a newly created municipal park.

The building will house more than 600 rooms, including over one hundred practice rooms, lecture halls, ballet studios, auditoriums, a library with a phonotheque, dormitories, professional Dolby recording studios, and four fully equipped concert halls. The symphony, opera-theatre, chamber, and organ halls form the heart of the campus – spaces designed both for student education and as open cultural venues for the city’s residents. Altogether, they can accommodate around 840 spectators.

The concert halls were designed using the “box-in-box” technology, with an independent structure for each, ensuring the highest level of acoustic insulation. The representative foyer and the functional layout make it possible to hold concerts in all the halls simultaneously without interference, which was one of the project’s main challenges.

The campus complex meets passive building standards. We have implemented, among other solutions, ground-source heat pumps, photovoltaic installations, an energy storage system, and advanced mechanical ventilation – all integrated into a single Building Management System (BMS). This significantly reduces energy consumption and ensures high operational efficiency.
