The design of the municipal hall in Rzeszów was created with respect for the context of the Old Town and with the aim of creating a sincere form, rooted in the local genius loci. The building's structure has been fragmented and ‘crushed’ to fit in with the scale and rhythm of the surrounding tenement houses, and its composition of varied roofs and projections refers to the historic buildings of the Market Square. The central acoustic box of the hall is surrounded by a group of smaller forms resembling townhouses, which tames the scale of the building and allows the existing trees to be preserved. On the Town Hall side, the building gives way to space, creating a terrace – an “urban balcony” overlooking the Market Square, which is a natural complement to the urban composition.

The functional layout is based on two levels of the site – the auditorium with a foyer is the central point, around which a café, exhibition spaces, conference rooms and co-working areas are arranged. The public spaces connect seamlessly, creating an internal ‘town’ with alleys and recesses conducive to meetings and recreation.

The architecture of the building, finished with fine plaster and natural materials, combines contemporary form with a delicate reference to the historical context, becoming a harmonious, functional and friendly part of the urban fabric.
