tbs competition results in gliwice – 2nd prize
The past few days have been full of important events and great news!
We’ve celebrated the opening of the Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz,
received a Construction of the Year award for the Maritime Museum in Łeba,
and also... won 2nd prize in the SARP Katowice competition for the concept of
a residential complex on Piaskowa Street in Gliwice! This is a great source
of satisfaction for us and a strong motivation to continue exploring sustainable
approaches to residential architecture.
The main idea behind the project was to create a compact urban block with a central park -
a shared space promoting recreation and community integration. The intimate buildings
surrounding the green courtyard form a clear and coherent layout, whose character is
highlighted by the combination of brick and light plaster. The design is complemented
by a woonerf-style street layout, which strengthens the connections with the surrounding
streets and neighborhoods.
The jury particularly appreciated the clear spatial hierarchy, the integration of the development
with the natural context, and the design decisions allowing the preservation of a significant portion
of the existing trees.
